2005. Teaching and laboratory assistant, species identification, microscopy and student aide. Initiated and completed extensive restoration project to restore NCSU's parasitology slide collection.
ANIMAL CARE:
Carnivore Preservation Trust, Pittsboro, NC
2006-2007. Caretaking of numerous species of carnivores including binturong, caracal, jaguar, kinkajou, leopard, ocelot, serval and tiger. Preparation and provision of food and enrichment items, office duties, facility and enclosure maintenance.
Piedmont Wildlife Center, Apex, NC
2004-2006. Clinical observation, record keeping, caretaking and food preparation of injured native North Carolina wildlife including small mammals, turtles, snakes, waterfowl and raptors. Assistance in minor veterinary procedures and daily maintenance of facility and enclosures.
FIELD RESEARCH:
Endangered Species Branch, Fort Bragg, NC
2005-2007. Monitoring and recording echolocation calls using Pettersson detector and SonoBat software to determine local species populations of bats. Also mist-netting and biological sampling.

2008. Attained first level of North Carolina Master Beekeeper Program. Hive construction, maintenance and bee management, queen rearing, parasite and pathology identification and treatment, bee physiology and pollination biology. North Carolina State Beekeepers Association.
Wilderness First Aid, Raleigh, NC
2007. Eighteen-hour emergency response training covering emergency management, patient assessment, musculoskeletal injuries, splinting, dislocations, soft tissue injuries, shock, diabetes, head injuries, heat and cold related illness, asthma and anaphylaxis. Wilderness Safety Council.
Bat World Boot Camp, Mineral Wells, TX
2006. Sixty-hour workshop encompassing public protocol, species identification, anatomy, handling procedures, subcutaneous injection, stabilizing fractures, parasite control, euthanasia, feeding, troubleshooting and captive care requirements for insectivorous bats as well as feeding and enrichment of fruit bats.
